The Virgin Atlantic Foundation, a UK registered charity, was set up in 2003 to support the welfare of children and young people through funds raised through our community investment programme.
As part of this we launched our ‘Change for Children’ appeal onboard in 2003, making us the first airline to collect our passengers’ spare foreign currency on flights. Since then, thanks to our wonderful customers and cabin crew, we’ve raised over £6.4m onboard.
Currently, all our Change for Children funds are donated to our charity partner WE (formerly called Free the Children). We’re working together to invest in young people in the UK and around the world. In times of humanitarian crisis, we may divert these funds to Save The Children to support aid efforts. Our crew will be sure to let you know about that at the time.
Next time you’re onboard, if you have any spare change or foreign currency, please pop it in the purple Change for Children envelope which can be found with your headset.
We’re so grateful for every single donation. If you’re not flying with us and would still like to donate, you can so via our Virgin Money Giving page. Alternatively, you could send a cheque (made out to the Virgin Atlantic Foundation) to our Community Investment team, or email them with your queries. Please don’t send cash or coins in the post. Thank you.
