We work with people and organisations around the world to try to improve environmental and labour standards, and have a positive impact on the lives we touch.

You can learn more about our people. You'll also find information in the Improving Lives section of our Sustainability Report, and in our Modern Slavery statement in the Resources section.

Our charity partnerships have always been close to our hearts. Through the Virgin Atlantic Foundation – our own charity which was setup in 2003 - we have raised over £9 million through our Change for Children onboard appeal. On top of this, our people fundraise over £100,000 every single year.

Given the realities of working with young people in a post-Covid-19 landscape, we are taking the opportunity to reflect on our community investment initiatives. As such, Virgin Atlantic and WE Charity have mutually agreed to terminate the partnership. We are proud of the impact we have made collectively and are incredibly grateful to our employees, customers, and the WE team for improving the lives of young people in the UK and around the world.

We are passionate about increasing engagement with STEM and raising aspirations for young people in our local communities. While we have this time to pause and reflect, we will consider how best to do this in the post-Covid landscape.

The Virgin Atlantic Foundation

In 2003, we set up the Virgin Atlantic Foundation - a UK registered charity.

The board is made up of trustees from across the Virgin Atlantic, who work to support the welfare of children and young people through funds raised from Virgin Atlantic's community investment programme.

We were the first airline to introduce an onboard charity appeal, collecting spare change and foreign currency for charity. We called it Change for Children. Every month, we raise thousands of pounds for the Virgin Atlantic Foundation.

Humanitarian aid

We work with international partner Save The Children

We work with international partner Save The Children by twice-annually diverting funds from our Change for Children appeal to their Children’s Emergency Fund. By supporting this fund, it means we’re able to help ensure Save The Children are ready to send life-saving food, shelter and medicines straight to where they are most urgently needed. You can find out more here.

We also work with them and other aid charities to support in carrying cargo and relief workers where we can.

We were the first airline to introduce an onboard charity appeal

We were the first airline to introduce an onboard charity appeal, collecting spare change and foreign currency for charity. We called it Change for Children. Every month, we raise thousands of pounds for the Virgin Atlantic Foundation and other charity partners.

We also have thousands of passionate people working at Virgin Atlantic who come up with fun and innovative ways to raise money. From bakes sales, to running marathons and climbing mountains.
